Jackson Madison County
School System:
Since 1990, Jackson Madison County has had a
consolidated school system with an elected
school board and a board appointed
superintendent. The system consists of 25
schools and has an approximate enrollment of
14,000 students. This school system takes
pride in many academic accomplishments –
most noteworthy being the success of the
Jackson Central Merry Academic Decathlon
Team – they won the state championship every
year since 1997!!! The School Board's

Jackson Area Private
Schools: The Jackson Area is fortunate
to have four highly acclaimed private schools.
- Jackson Christian
School:
Located on a
28-acre campus in North Jackson, JCS has preschool
through senior high. The school is affiliated with
the Churches of Christ, but approximately 50% of the
students have another religious affiliation. JCS
offers college preparatory courses as well as a full
athletic program. Upwards of 98% of their seniors
continue their education in institutes of higher

- St. Mary's
Catholic School: This school is
operated by the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia,
but is open to all religious denominations. It
currently has preschool through 10th
grade, but will continue to add through grade 12.

- Trinity
Christian Academy: TCA offers an
interdenominational Christian education for
preschool through senior high. The campus is located
on 30 acres in west Madison County and boasts a
maximum of a 1-to-15 teacher to student ratio. [Call

- University
School of Jackson: In 1997, USJ opened
a $10 million Middle and Upper school campus on 100
acres in North Madison County. USJ offers preschool
through senior high with college preparatory courses
as well as a full athletic program. Classroom sizes
are limited to 22 students and 100% of graduating

Colleges and
Universities: The Jackson Area is home to four
private universities and one state affiliated two-year
junior college.

Center of Advanced Industrial Technologies:

Ned McWerter Center of Advanced Industrial
Technologies: Located on the campus of Jackson
State Community College, this center offers general
technical training, business employee training and
technical assistance to area small businesses.
